Maryland PPA food drive

Announcing the Maryland PPA First Annual Food Drive We all know the times are tough, the economy has really hit some people hard. The Maryland Food Bank recently announced that they are very low on supplies. The Board of Directors would like to make ...a difference in the community by helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Beginning with the September 16th meeting we will be conducting a food drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. Please bring in any can goods and non perishable food items and drop them in the box that we will have at the meeting. We will be collecting items in September, October and November. If we have a large enough donation we plan on inviting someone from the food bank to our November meeting to accept the Associations donation. We would like to make the donation in November because our meeting is one week before Thanksgiving and there always seems to be a large demand at that time. If this works well we would like to make it an annual event.... Read MorePlease feel free to contact me with any questions.

Joe Campanellie earns ASP Fellow

First I want to publicly congratulate Joe Campanellie for receiving the ASP Fellow.

Many consider the ASP fellow as being the pinnacle of photographic accomplishment and as a Doctorates degree.

The ASP Fellow was established by the ASP in 1970. SInce then only 101 photographers have achieved this honor.

Joe is only the second photographer from Maryland to receive the ASP fellow, Monte Zucker being the other.

As you can see this is a major accomplishment.

Again Congratulations Joe

More info on the ASP and the fellow can be found at www.asofp-online.com

October meeting

Our October meeting will be 10/21/2009 at the Sheraton Columbia. Our speaker is Stephanie Millner and the topic is pet photography.

FURBALLS! The Art of Pet Photography
Stephanie A. Millner, CPP

Stephanie Millner, CPP will share her approach to creating beautiful and timeless pet portraiture using a very simple studio set up and some easy techniques to control animal behavior. Learn appropriate lighting for texture, how to properly treat-bait pets, and how to create an image the pet parents will forever treasure. She will explain working with troublesome pets, behavior problems, and quick-trick training during sessions. Post-processing and sales will also be discussed.

Ms. Millner owns and operates a portrait studio in Alexandria, VA. As her focus is on pets and animal photography, she works closely with many local animal shelters to help place homeless pets in their forever homes. She is an award-winning and certified professional photographer with special certification endorsements in weddings and (pet) portraiture. She is currently working on a line of high-end destination pet portraiture to debut in Italy in 2010.
Ms. Millner lives with her husband, David, and her Shetland-sheepdog, Hailey. Her hobbies include dog agility, Facebook’s Packrat, and procrastinating on Instant Messenger with other photographer friends. Somehow, she considers this "work time" although hasn’t quite justified it yet.
